Record Scores — Your gross 9-hole score is recorded each week. Par at Wellshire is 35 for both nines.

Calculate Differentials — Each score is converted to a differential: Score − Par. Example: 42 − 35 = +7

Take Last 5 Rounds — Only your most recent 5 rounds are used. This rolls across seasons — your last few rounds from last year count until you play enough new rounds to replace them.

Average & Subtract Par — Your 5 scores are averaged, then par (35) is subtracted. Example: avg 41.0 − 35 = 6.0

Apply 90% Multiplier — The difference is multiplied by 0.90 to prevent sandbagging. Example: 6.0 × 0.90 = 5.4

Round & Adjust — The result is rounded to the nearest whole number. The commissioner can apply manual adjustments (+/−). Example: 5.4 → 5

Rolling Across Seasons — Handicaps roll continuously. If you shot 40, 42, 41 at the end of last year, those 3 rounds still count at the start of this year until you play enough new rounds to push them out. New players without history get a commissioner-assigned default.
